Lake Champlain Bikeways
Initiated in 1994, Lake Champlain Bikeways is a network of interconnected, international bicycle routes around Lake Champlain in New York, Vermont and the Upper Richelieu Valley of Quebec. To date, the network includes a 363-mile principal route around the entire Lake, known as the Champlain Bikeway, and 34 shorter loops that connect to the principal route and range in distance from ten to 47 miles. Based on natural, cultural and historic themes, these loops meander along quiet back roads through an extraordinary display of breathtaking mountain and countryside scenery. Lake Champlain Bikeways, a not-for-profit organization, is working closely with local communities and the Lake Champlain Basin Program to create these theme loops and to identify ways to preserve and enhance the bicycle-friendliness of the region.
