Paddlers' Trail
The mission of the Paddlers' Trail is to develop and maintain a trail for human-powered boats and to encourage managed access and responsible, safe recreation. Trail development and use will be guided by a sense of stewardship, with a philosophy of low impact use of the Lake and its shore lands, while educating visitors about the region's unique cultural and natural heritage. The Lake Champlain Paddlers' Trail development was a partnership between the LCC, Champlain Kayak Club, and the Lake Champlain Basin Program. The LCBP provided funding and technical assistance to the LCC to develop trail signs and a guidebook that emphasizes the importance of good stewardship at these sites. The guidebook can be purchased from the LCC (see link below). Several state agencies were also involved including: Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation; New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation; and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
