More than 25 watershed, river and lake groups are active in the Lake Champlain Basin. These grassroots, citizen organizations help restore and protect the basin's waters and ultimately Lake Champlain. Activities include: monitoring water quality; inventorying natural resources; watershed planning; cleaning up rivers, streams, and lakes; restoring fish habitat; and working with landowners to improve water quality. additional websites of interest for watersheds. The Lake Champlain Basin Program has supported many of these groups by hosting meetings, providing technical assistance, hosting webpages, supporting a list-serve, and providing funds to watershed groups for training and professional development. |
