The LaChute River, which drains the waters of Lake George into Lake Champlain at Fort Ticonderoga, provided steady, reliable waterpower along two miles of waterfalls and rapids and drove the economic vitality of Ticonderoga.
The Town of Ticonderoga, NY has reclaimed the industrial waterfront as parkland, accessible along a 4-mile "Riverwalk" trail. A dozen wayside exhibits along the trail interpret the industrial history of Ticonderoga and the ecology of the River.
