LCBP to Release 2021 State of the Lake Report

The Lake Champlain Basin Program will host two virtual sessions to introduce the 2021 Lake Champlain State of the Lake and Ecosystem Indicators Report. The document will be available electronically on June 23; print copies will be available for distribution in late July. Print copies may be requested by completing this form.

LCBP PRESS CONFERENCE AND VIRTUAL SUMMARY (60 minutes)

Opening remarks will be provided by the following invited speakers:

  • U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy
  • EPA Regions 1 (New England) and 2 (includes New York)
  • Québec’s Delegate to New England
  • Vermont Agency of Natural Resources
  • New York Department of Environmental Conservation
  • Quebec Ministry of Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change

LCBP staff will then provide insights into the State of Lake Champlain, oriented around the four goals of the Lake Champlain management plan Opportunities for Action: Clean Water, Healthy Ecosystems, Thriving Communities, and an Informed and Involved Public. A question-and-answer session will follow.

A DEEPER DIVE INTO the CLEAN WATER and HEALTHY ECOSYSTEMS SECTIONS of the Report (up to 90 minutes with Q & A)

LCBP Technical Coordinator Dr. Matthew Vaughan will provide a detailed presentation on trends related to nutrients and other pollutants in the Lake.

LCBP Aquatic Invasive Species Management Coordinator Meg Modley will provide a detailed presentation on trends related to fisheries and aquatic invasive species.

A question-and-answer session will follow each presentation.
