Wednesday\, August 16th from 6:00 – 7:30 PM at the Barn at Goodsell Ridge Preserve located at 69 Pine Street in Isle La Motte\, VT. \nComposer Glenn McClure will take the audience on a Music-Science journey that explores “Watershed Voices\,” the LCBP Artist-in-Residence Program. Over the next two years\, Glenn will mentor three composers in translating scientific data from Lake Champlain into music. During this lecture/demonstration Glenn will show how data can be converted into sound. \nGlenn McClure is a composer and educator. DESCRIPTION:The meeting will provide an update to the public and stakeholders about State and Provincial efforts to improve water quality in Missisquoi Bay.  \nWelcoming remarks by Maggie Gendron\, Deputy Secretary\, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources  \nNathalie Provost\, Directrice générale\, Direction générale de l’Analyse et de l’expertise du Centre et du Sud\, Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques\, de la faune et des parcs (MELCCFP) will provide a review of recent Québec provincial regulations to improve water quality in the Missisquoi Bay basin\, monitoring data\, and funding allocated for projects and programs.   \nClaire Madden\, TMDL Tracking and Accounting Coordinator\, Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation will give an overview of the Vermont statewide approach to clean water\, project tracking and success metrics\, and detailed information on Vermont-based efforts in the Missisquoi Bay basin\, including funding and nutrient reduction efforts.   \nLake Champlain Basin Program staff will facilitate question and answers for each speaker.  \nThis will be a hybrid meeting. DESCRIPTION:In August 2021\, UVM student Jordan Rowell began a two-week journey to kayak the entire 120-mile length of Lake Champlain. With local filmmaker Duane Peterson documenting the adventure\, the pair conducted interviews to better understand the biggest challenges facing our basin and to explore our relationship with natural resources in the face of a changing climate. The two will present the making of the film\, “No Other Lake\,” share a sneak preview\, and engage in a Q&A discussion about their film and what they learned in their endeavor. \nJordan Rowell is a UVM student majoring in Natural Resources and Duane Peterson is a local filmmaker and programming director for SunCommon’s Climate Action Film Festival \nThe Winter Wednesdays series is a partnership project of the Worthen Library and South Hero Land Trust.
