Watershed Association Professional Development Mini-Grants

These mini-grants provide professional development funds for the staff and volunteers of qualified watershed organizations in the Lake Champlain Basin, to cover expenses such as travel, meals, registration and accommodations at meetings, conferences, workshops and other venues designed to enhance the organizations’ capacity to operate. Qualifying Organizations: Watershed types of organization within the Lake Champlain Basin may apply for Watershed Association Professional Development Mini-grants. Up to $500/year is available per organization subject to availability of funds. Please read the attached instructions for more details about qualifying.

Collecting Data

Since many LCBP grants are funded through the US EPA, grants involving data collection or assembly of existing environmental data may require an approved Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP), before the project begins. Wildlife Habitat Protection and Improvement Grants [Closed: 3/1/10]

2009 LOCAL IMPLEMENTATION GRANTS [Closed: 12/4/2009]

1. Organizational Support – Up to $2,000 to strengthen the long-term effectiveness of watershed organizations.

2. Pollution Prevention or Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention – Up to $10,000 to support technical projects which address pollution prevention and invasive species or any of the highest priorities in the management plan, Opportunities for Action.

3. Education & Outreach – Up to $7,500 for projects that increase students and/or adults awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment to Lake Champlain issues.

4. Pollution Reduction on Small Farms in the Missisquoi and St. Albans Bay Basins – A total of $30,000 is available to 501(c)(3) organizations or municipalities on behalf of small farms for phosphorus reduction efforts, including installation and construction of best management practices. No more than $3,000 of an award may be applied to any single farm.

2009 Champlain Quadricentennial Commemoration Grants [Closed: 6/19/2009]]

Towns and cities throughout the Champlain Valley are preparing for the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s 1609 historic arrival on Lake Champlain. The region’s municipalities will host thousands of visitors at signature events this summer as they celebrate their history and culture. Municipalities and population centers developing signature events and programs to commemorate the Quadricentennial are encouraged to apply for 2009 Champlain Quadricentennial Commemoration Grants.
