Grand Isle, VT – The Patrick Leahy Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP), a NEIWPCC program partner, seeks proposals for culvert replacement engineering designs for four undersized perched culverts in the Boquet River watershed in New York.
The purpose of this project is to create designs for the replacement of four culverts, correct structural deficiencies, improve stream geomorphic compatibility, and restore passage of all life stages of eastern brook trout and other aquatic species in this portion of the Boquet River system.
Engineers licensed to practice in the State of New York, or entities partnering with them, are eligible to submit proposals for the development of Final Designs for culvert replacements.
Dr. Eric Howe, NEIWPCC Program Director of the Lake Champlain Basin Program, said, “Many partners across the Basin are working to improve habitat for eastern brook trout and other aquatic species that rely on cold, clear, and connected streams. Upgrading infrastructure also reduces flood risk for surrounding communities. We are pleased to move this work forward in the Boquet River watershed through this opportunity.”
This grant opportunity is supported by funds awarded to NEIWPCC on behalf of the Lake Champlain Basin Program by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
Proposals are due at 5:00 PM EST on June 30, 2025. Awarded projects will begin work by August 30, 2025. More information, including grant guidelines and applications, is available on the Lake Champlain Basin Program’s website at lcbp.org/grants.
