Lake Champlain Basin Program to Fund Healthy Ecosystems and Stormwater Reduction Efforts
Grand Isle, VT – The Patrick Leahy Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP), a NEIWPCC program partner, will support stormwater property assessment programs and projects that conserve habitat and native species and prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species.
Stormwater property assessment grants support organizations that offer Lake Wise, Stream Wise, or Rain Wise assessments in their local Lake Champlain basin communities. Healthy ecosystems grants may include improving wetlands and riparian habitat, restoring healthy fish communities, implementing flood resilience measures, aquatic invasive species population mapping and removal, infrastructure investments, or public outreach.

“From engaging landowners to implementing on-the-ground conservation measures, these grant opportunities support targeted approaches needed to achieve clean water and healthy ecosystems in the Lake Champlain basin,” said Interim NEIWPCC Division Director of Lake Champlain Programs Jim Brangan.
Awarded projects will advance the goals of the long-term Lake Champlain management plan Opportunities for Action (plan.lcbp.org).
These grant opportunities are supported by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) through awards to NEIWPCC on behalf of the Lake Champlain Basin Program, and in partnership with the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. AIS infrastructure grants are supported with funding made available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
