The natural, cultural, and historic resources of the Lake Champlain Basin offer a variety of recreation options that support health and well-being, contribute to local economies, and forge connections to its land and waters.. With beaches, boat launches, water trails, state forests and parks, national forests, and thousands of miles of trails, residents and visitors have access to bountiful open space to seek inspiration, rejuvenation, and challenge.

Whether hiking or biking, hunting or fishing, recreationists gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the Basin’s unique character and forge connections to the land and waters. Recreation and tourism also contribute significantly to local economies.

Since it was established in 1990, the LCBP has recognized the power of these connections and has supported programs to enhance sustainable recreation and tourism. Much of this work has been done under the direction and auspices of the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership (CVNHP) since its establishment in 2011. The CVNHP website provides information and resources on many of these programs.
