Farm Phosphorus Reduction Tool

Consulting firm Stone Environmental has developed a new tool to help reduce the input of phosphorus from farms into Lake Champlain. Farmers can enter field and management information into the web-based Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (Farm-PREP) tool, which performs a series of complex calculations to recommend a suite of best management practices to prevent pollution. The reductions will help meet the goals of the of the 2016 Vermont Phosphorus TMDL. Stone used farmer feedback from early stages of development to make several improvements to the tool and provided training to farmers and partners.
